Dividing the dorm room

When living in an area so close you have to get vaccinated, space is an issue. Here are some of the top reasons to get a room divider for your dorm room. Not only can they be stylish, but very functional and efficient for a college student’s lifestyle.

Privacy

Privacy is something most dorms DON’T offer. Half the time, your beds are 4 feet from each other and you share almost everything in the room. A room divider is the perfect way to get some alone time in a room where you are never alone. Two great places for a room divider are next to your bed or around your computer. Now if you have a top bunk, you are out of luck, however for a bottom bunk a room divider will allow you to sleep in peace. Putting a room divider around your computer leads me to my next point…

Studying

While you may not have heard of this topic, studying is a very important part of college. As a former college student, I can tell you I know how easy it is to get distracted from studying. Just saying the word makes me want to look up something funny online or check my e-mail. (See, I’m a pro.) With a room divider, you can give yourself some time to really focus on studying rather than what your roomie is watching on Youtube.

Another great idea for our studiers out there – chalkboard paint. You can construct your room divider or buy one, but either way, slather chalkboard paint all over it and you’ve now got the perfect place for group projects, tutoring, etc. Obviously you can’t put chalkboard paint on fabric…ok, it may not be obvious but don’t do it.

I’d love to hear any funny dorm stories where a room divider would have come in handy or any creative room divider ideas you’ve come up with!
