The basics - It’s more than just tape.

Room dividers are a functional way to add style and personality to any room in your house! Whether it’s just for looks, dividing an area or hiding your clutter the options are endless when it comes to adding your personal touch to a room divider. I’m not just talking about a sticky piece of masking tape separating two quarreling sisters either, although it is a humorous thought.

The stylish accent piece dates back hundreds of years, originally to the Asian culture. They were used for the same reason as now - added privacy and a decorative touch. However, today we have many more options of styles.

I found tons of room dividers at stacksandstacks.com, pages of room dividers in almost any style you can imagine, and that’s just one site.

I really like the artsy ones because it’s more like a giant piece of art, the perfect accent to almost any decor.

The standing room divider is just one type that is available. For desperate measures, you can use the string and shower curtain method, however finding a cute piece of fabric and securing it from the ceiling would be a much more attractive alternative.

You can also find places that sell shelves that are fun to use as a room divider. While the room is divided, you can still see each side. The privacy element isn’t there but the style and personality sure is.

Or, go crazy with it. Looking for something really wild (literally)? I saw a great way to use this type of divider! Someone had put one similar around a stand-alone bathtub and it looked great. It was tall enough to offer privacy and it was a very unique way to use a room divider!

For the really creative soul, a fun weekend project would be to make your own! Check back next week for my post on cool ways to make your own room divider.
